Eugenio Larosa
Historian, author, consultant and historical reenactor
My name is Eugenio Larosa, and I was born in Forlì in 1975. For more than twenty years, I have been involved in historical research, public history and historical reenactment, with a particular focus on fifteenth-century Italy, military history, material culture, fashion, clothing, and everyday life between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
My work stems from the combination of source-based research, writing and practical experimentation. Through books, articles, lectures, consultancy and events, I work to make history understandable, well documented and accessible to different audiences.
I am the author of publications devoted to the Italian Renaissance, including Roberto Sanseverino. Condottiero del Rinascimento italiano tra arte militare e politica (Roberto Sanseverino: A Condottiero of the Italian Renaissance between Military Art and Politics), Galeotto. L’ultimo vero signore di Faenza (Galeotto: The Last True Lord of Faenza), and Essere donna tra Medioevo e Rinascimento (Being a Woman between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance), a study of gestures, roles and behaviours for the historical reconstruction of the female figure.
In the field of historical reenactment, I have taken part for many years in projects and events in Italy and across Europe. In 2011, I contributed to the founding of the cultural association FAMALEONIS, an organisation dedicated to the study and reconstruction of fifteenth-century military, civilian and material life.
Since 2023, I have collaborated with the Deputation of the Niballo Palio di Faenza as a historical consultant, working on research, texts and in-depth studies of fifteenth-century fashion. In 2025, I founded ConsulenzaStorica.it, a project created to provide professional support to institutions, associations, authors, publishers and event organisers who wish to present the past with consistency and documentary rigour.
Alongside historical research, I have for many years cultivated an interest in tabletop miniature wargaming and miniature painting, fields in which I combine research, gaming and public history.
My work has one simple goal: to transform historical research into clear, credible and engaging storytelling, without compromising the rigour of the sources.
